PC World 'free' laptop with Orange broadband
22nd July 2007
Last week,
PC World announced their own free laptop computer offer for customers signing
up with Orange 2Mb broadband on a two year contract. The laptop offered would
be worth around £300 (something along the lines of an Advent 721), with a
suggested minimum specification of a low end Celeron processor, 256Mb of RAM,
WiFi, a DVD writer, 40Gb hard drive and a 15.4 inch widescreen. Whilst this
very basic spec laptop computer would likely struggle with certain
applications, PC World are offering upgrades from £19.99 or the
opportunity to receive a £250 discount on any other laptop.
The
Orange broadband package (normally priced at £14.99 per month) offers a
2Mb connection coupled with a 2Gb monthly download limit. Taking account of
discounts, this package will cost £327.26 over the 24 month contract
term, which on the surface of things, seems like exceptional value for 24
months broadband with a laptop bundled in. This free laptop computer offer is
only available via PC World.
